Plate type heat exchanger is an efficient heat exchanger composed of a series of metal sheets with a certain corrugated shape stacked together. Thin rectangular channels are formed between various plates for heat exchange. Plate heat exchangers are ideal equipment for heat exchange between liquid liquid and liquid vapor. It has the characteristics of high heat exchange efficiency, small heat loss, compact and lightweight structure, small footprint, wide application, and long service life. Under the same pressure loss, its heat transfer coefficient is 3-5 times higher than that of the tubular heat exchanger, its floor area is one-third of that of the tubular heat exchanger, and its heat recovery rate can be up to 90% or more.

Process Flow of Plate Type Heat Exchanger

1. Because of the special effect of the plate corrugated surface, the fluid flows along the corrugated channel. The velocity direction of the plate heat exchanger changes constantly, which results in the strong end-movement of the fluid at a small flow rate, thus strengthening the heat transfer process. It effectively improve the heat transfer capability and has the outstanding advantages of compact structure, low metal consumption, flexible operation and long service life.

2. The process of heat exchanger is composed of many plates assembled according to a certain process and requirement of the buyer. When assembling, A and B plates are arranged alternately and a network is formed  between the plates. The sealing gasket seals the cold and hot media in the heat exchanger. Meanwhile, the cold and hot media are separated reasonably without mixing. Exchanger so as to achieve the desired effect.

3. There are many kinds of flow combinations of plate heat exchanger, which are realized by different reversing plates and different assembly. The process combination can be divided into single process, multi process and mixer process.


Heat Transfer Plate Material

1. SS304 and SS316L material are suitable for corrosive condition of acid and alkali media, not suitable for chloride ion.

2. Industrial pure titanium: TEA for caustic soda, salt making, low temperature seawater freezing and chloride ion corrosion.

3. Ultra low carbon stainless steel: 00Cr18Ni14Mo2Cu2 for organic solvent and intercrystalline

and chloride ion corrosion occasions.


Advantages & Feature

1. Easy to Remove and Clean

Plate Heat Exchangers are easy to clean by remove the tie bolts and slide back the movable frame part. Then the plate pack can be inspected, pressure cleaned, or removed for refurbishment if required.

2. Expandable

A very significant feature of the plate Heat Exchanger is that it is expandable. Increasing the Heat Transfer requirements means simply adding plates instead of buying a new Heat Exchanger, saving time and money.

3. High Efficiency

Because of the pressed patterns in the plates and the relative narrow gaps, very high turbulence is achieved at relative low fluid velocity. This combined with counter directional flow results in very high Heat Transfer coefficients.

4. Compact Size

As a result of the high efficiency, less Heat Transfer area is required, resulting in a much smaller Heat Exchanger than would be needed for the same duty using other types of Heat Exchangers. Typically a plate Heat Exchanger requires between 20-40% of the space required by a tube and shell Heat Exchanger.

5. Close Approach Temperature

The same features that give the plate Heat Exchanger its high efficiency also makes it possible to reach close approach temperatures which is particularly important in heat recovery and regeneration applications. Approach temperatures of 0.5°C is possible.
